Jacksonville Man Drove Across America in 2010 to "Sign the Planet" — 15 Years Later the Movement Has Billions of Impressions
What started as a Facebook page and a hand-painted sign is now one of the longest-running grassroots positivity brands in American history.
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. — April 12, 2026 — This Is A Good Sign, the independent positivity movement founded by Eric Dennis on March 3, 2010, today marks its fifteenth consecutive year of operation — a milestone reached without a single dollar of paid advertising.
In the spring of 2010, a twenty-something from Jacksonville loaded a stack of hand-painted signs into the back of his car and set out to "sign the planet." He had no brand strategy, no investors, no PR firm. He had a Facebook page with a few hundred followers and a single idea — that a small, physical reminder that this is a good sign might be worth more than a thousand motivational quote graphics.
Fifteen years later, that idea has quietly become one of the most durable grassroots positivity brands in American culture. Signs have been documented in all fifty states. The movement has a federal trademark, a Kickstarter-funded product line, and — now — a licensed metal sign available nationwide through SmartSign, one of the largest sign manufacturers in the country.
"I never wanted to build a company. I wanted to build a reminder. Turns out people kept the reminder on their walls for fifteen years."
— Eric, Founder
The movement predates Instagram's redesign, the word "influencer," the doom-scroll era, and most of the wellness brands currently dominating the space. It has outlasted every one of its original 2010 contemporaries. And it did so, the founder maintains, by refusing to optimize.

The product, finally.
The flagship product — a weather-proof metal sign in two sizes — is now available through SmartSign's nationwide distribution. The retail partnership, the founder says, was the first time in fifteen years the brand considered serious commercial infrastructure.
"Before 'wholesome' was a content category, this was just a guy with a marker and some plywood. That's the story."
